7 An Act relating to firearms; amending 21 O.S. 2021,
Section 1290.6, which relates to the Oklahoma Self-
8 Defense Act; deleting prohibition on certain type of
ammunition; and providing an effective date.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
14 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 21 O.S. 2021, Section 1290.6, is
15 amended to read as follows:
16 Section 1290.6.
17 PROHIBITED AMMUNITION
18 Any concealed or unconcealed handgun when carried in a manner
19 authorized by the provisions of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act and
20 when loaded with any ammunition which is either a restricted bullet
21 as defined by Section 1289.19 of this title or is larger than .45
22 caliber or is otherwise prohibited by law shall be deemed a
23 prohibited weapon for purposes of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act.
24 Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be

1 punished for a criminal offense as provided by Section 1272 of this
2 title or any other applicable provision of law. In addition to any
3 criminal prosecution for a violation of the provisions of this
4 section, the licensee shall be subject to an administrative fine of
5 Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), upon a hearing and determination by
6 the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation that the person is in
7 violation of the provisions of this section.
8 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
