6                               AS INTRODUCED

7   An Act relating to firearms; amending 20 O.S. 2021,

    Section 129, which relates to the authority of judges

8   to carry firearms; extending authority to carry

    firearms to retired municipal judges; and providing

9   an effective date.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14  SECTION 1.      AMENDATORY  20 O.S. 2021, Section 129, is

15 amended to read as follows:

16  Section 129. A judge of the district court, municipal judge, or

17 retired judge of the district court, or retired municipal judge, who

18 receives a statement from the appropriate retirement system

19 verifying the status of the person as a retired judge of the

20 district court or retired municipal judge, may carry a firearm on

21 his or her person anywhere in throughout the state to use only for

22 personal protection if the person has successfully completed a

23 handgun qualification course for court officials developed by the

24 Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training. The Council on

1 Law Enforcement Education and Training may provide for an

2 identification card to be issued to the judge of the district court,

3 retired judge of the district court, or municipal judge, or retired

4 municipal judge and may provide application forms. If the person

5 issued an identification card is no longer eligible, that person

6 shall immediately return the identification card to the Council on

7 Law Enforcement Education and Training.

8   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
