6                               AS INTRODUCED

7   An Act relating to the Oklahoma Historical Society;

    amending 53 O.S. 2021, Section 1.4a, which relates to

8   the Office of Tribal Relations; providing format

    material may be available on; authorizing the Office

9   to consult sources; directing the Office to deliver

    material; and providing an effective date.

14 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

15  SECTION 1.      AMENDATORY  53 O.S. 2021, Section 1.4a, is

16 amended to read as follows:

17  Section 1.4a. A. There is hereby created within the Research

18 Division of the Oklahoma Historical Society the Office of Tribal

19 Relations. The Office of Tribal Relations shall:

20  1. Gather, preserve, and maintain all records, documents, and

21 material related to negotiations and agreements between tribal

22 governments and the state and political subdivisions;

23  2. Maintain an archive of all compacts and agreements between

24 tribal governments and the state and political subdivisions; and

1   3. Organize the compacts, agreements and related documents and

2 material in a manner on paper or in electronic form that is

3 accessible to the public.

4   B. The Office of Tribal Relations is authorized to consult

5 sources, including, but not limited to, state agencies and tribal

6 governments, in order to obtain information necessary to fulfill its

7 duties set forth in subsection A of this section.

8   C. The Office of Tribal Relations shall deliver an electronic,

9 updated copy of the material described in paragraph 3 of subsection

10 A of this section to each member of the Oklahoma Legislature by

11 December 1 of every even-numbered year. The Office shall deliver a

12 physical, updated copy of the material described in paragraph 3 of

13 subsection A of this section to each member of the Oklahoma

14 Legislature after each gubernatorial election.

15  D. The Oklahoma Historical Society shall provide suitable

16 office space for the Office of Tribal Relations.

17  SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
