7   An Act relating to transportation; amending 69 O.S.

    2021, Section 1600.1, which relates to dedicating

8   state highway system property to honor individuals;

    establishing procedures for making dedication to

9   military and veteran individuals; and providing an

    effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13  SECTION 1.      AMENDATORY  69 O.S. 2021, Section 1600.1, is

14 amended to read as follows:

15  Section 1600.1. A. Highways, bridges and other facilities

16 which are part of the state highway system may be considered for

17 dedication in honor of individuals deserving of commendation for

18 their active involvement in the project or for outstanding service

19 to the nation, this state or their community. Proposals for the

20 dedication of state highway facilities should specifically state the

21 accomplishments upon which the proposal is based.

22  B. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation shall maintain a

23 digital map identifying all designations approved under the Memorial

24 Highways and Bridges Program and shall be made available on the

1 agency website. This map shall provide the name of the honorees,

2 the location and description of the segment of highway, bridge, or

3 facility being named, and the reasons for designation, including any

4 historical significance. Upon the availability of funding, the map

5 shall be upgraded with interactive multimedia capabilities and other

6 enhancements to be shared with the public through a web-based

7 mapping application so that the public can learn more about the

8 individuals or groups being honored. Upon its availability, a link

9 to the enhanced mapping system shall be shared with the Oklahoma

10 Department of Tourism and Recreation to promote the State of

11 Oklahoma.

12  C. All military members and groups who have been honored in the

13 Memorial Highways and Bridges Program shall be identified in the

14 Veterans Military Trail Segment which shall be specified on the

15 interactive map.

16  SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
