6 AS INTRODUCED
7 An Act relating to crimes and punishments; making
certain acts unlawful; providing penalties; providing
8 for codification; and providing an effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
13 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
14 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 650.12 of Title 21, unless there
15 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
16 Any person who, without justifiable or excusable cause, commits
17 during the commission of a crime at a retail establishment a battery
18 or an assault and battery upon an employee of the retail
19 establishment while such employee is in the performance of his or
20 her duties shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a felony punishable
21 by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for
22 a term not exceeding two (2) years, or by a fine not exceeding Two
23 Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00), or by both such fine and
24 imprisonment.

1 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
