VETO MESSAGE - No. 97 TO THE SENATE: I am returning herewith, without my approval, the following bill: Senate Bill Number 8091, entitled: "AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to the timeframe of distributors of cannabis products to file tax returns" NOT APPROVED This bill would amend the tax law to modify the filing timeframe for tax returns submitted by distributors and cannabis product manufactur- ers. New York's cannabis industry continues its positive trajectory, and I am proud of our commitment to building a more equitable marketplace. Unfortunately, this legislation would create substantial complications within our state's tax administration infrastructure. It would fundamen- tally alter our long-established tax collection and reporting framework while introducing a filing deadline that aligns with no other existing tax schedule.
