VETO MESSAGE - No. 50 TO THE SENATE: I am returning herewith, without my approval, the following bill: Senate Bill Number 6441-A, entitled: "AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to requiring certain health insurance policies include coverage services provided by pharmacists related to contraceptives" NOT APPROVED This bill would amend the Insurance Law to require that commercial health insurance policies reimburse pharmacists dispensing self-adminis- tered hormonal contraceptives and providing related services "the same as any other health care provider." In 2023, I signed the Birth Control Access Act {"BCAA"), which author- izes pharmacists to dispense self-administered hormonal contraceptives pursuant to a non-patient specific standing order from a physician.
