 AN ACT to amend a chapter of the laws of 2025 amending the civil service
   law relating to requiring appointing authorities to  provide  appoint-
   ment  and  promotion letters, as proposed in legislative bills numbers
   S. 5760 and A. 6624, in relation to the effectiveness thereof

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Section  2  of a chapter of the laws of 2025 amending the
 civil service  law  relating  to  requiring  appointing  authorities  to
 provide  appointment  and  promotion letters, as proposed in legislative
 bills numbers S. 5760 and A. 6624, is amended to read as follows:
   § 2. This act shall take effect [on the ninetieth day after  it  shall
 have  become  a  law] DECEMBER 31, 2027 OR THIRTY DAYS AFTER THE COMMIS-
 SIONER OF CIVIL SERVICE CERTIFIES THAT THE DEPARTMENT'S COMPUTER  SYSTEM
 IS ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE THE AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 61 OF THE CIVIL SERVICE
 LAW MADE BY SECTION ONE OF THIS ACT, WHICHEVER OCCURS EARLIER; PROVIDED,
 HOWEVER,  THAT THE COMMISSIONER OF CIVIL SERVICE SHALL NOTIFY THE LEGIS-
 LATIVE BILL DRAFTING COMMISSION  UPON  ISSUING  THEIR  CERTIFICATION  IN
 ORDER  THAT THE COMMISSION MAY MAINTAIN AN ACCURATE AND TIMELY EFFECTIVE
 DATA BASE OF THE OFFICIAL TEXT OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW  YORK  IN
 FURTHERANCE OF EFFECTUATING THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 44 OF THE LEGISLA-
 TIVE LAW AND SECTION 70-B OF THE PUBLIC OFFICERS LAW.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
