Relates to prohibiting the establishment of new for-profit hospices

Prohibits the establishment of new for-profit hospices or increasing the capacity of existing for-profit hospices.

Hospice and palliative care services provide essential care for aging individuals and those with disabilities. While for-profit hospices, often backed by private equity or venture capital, have rapidly expanded and tend to provide a narrower range and lower quality of services to patients than not-for-profit hospices, in New York, there are only two for-profit hospice providers.
