Establishes a specialized electric vehicle emergency response training program

Requires the state fire administrator to make available a specialized electric vehicle emergency response training program to provide training to individuals responsible for providing emergency response and recovery following incidents involving electric vehicles; defines emergency medical services agency.

VETO MESSAGE - No. 25 TO THE ASSEMBLY: I am returning herewith, without my approval, the following bill: Assembly Bill Number 247, entitled: "AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to the establishment of a specialized electric vehicle emergency response training program" NOT APPROVED This bill would mandate the State Fire Administrator make available a specialized electric vehicle (EV) emergency response and recovery train- ing program for fire fighters, police officers, emergency services agen- cies, and tow operators. The bill further requires that the training include a hands-on training and that the State Fire Administrator report on the training program each year. While I find the goal of expanding EV training laudable, this bill would require the expenditure of funds that are not accounted for in the State's financial plan.
