Why the Governor vetoed it

VETO MESSAGE - No. 34 TO THE ASSEMBLY: I am returning herewith, without my approval, the following bill: Assembly Bill Number 1433-A, entitled: "AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to providing for the issuance of pet insurance" NOT APPROVED This bill would authorize the issuance of pet insurance in New York and establish a corresponding regulatory framework. However, animal insurance, which may include both domesticated and wild animals, is already authorized in the State. The bill is duplicative and would cause confusion as to which substan- tive provisions of the Insurance Law would apply. Therefore, I am constrained to veto this bill. The bill is disapproved.
