District 13 (Monmouth) Assemblywoman ELIANA PINTOR MARIN District 29 (Essex and Hudson) SYNOPSIS Extends transmittal date deadline for Fiscal Year 2027 gubernatorial budget message to Legislature from fourth Tuesday in February to March 10, 2026. CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT As introduced. An Act concerning the budget message to be transmitted by the Governor to the Legislature for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027. Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey: 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary, the Governor shall transmit the budget message for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027 to the Legislature on or before March 10, 2026. 2. This act shall take effect immediately. STATEMENT This bill extends the date by which the Governor’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget message is to be transmitted to the Legislature to Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Current law requires the budget message to be transmitted to the Legislature on or before the fourth Tuesday in February. Similar extensions have been provided in the past for the first budget messages transmitted by other Governors.
