MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2026 Regular Session To: Appropriations By: Senator(s) Harkins, Barnett, Barrett, Berry, Blackmon, Blackwell, Blount, Boyd, Brumfield, Bryan, Butler, Carter, Chassaniol, Chism, DeBar, DeLano, DuPree, England, Fillingane, Frazier, Gillespie Isom, Hartness, Hickman, Hill, Hopson, Jackson, Johnson, Kirby, Ladner, McCaughn, McLendon, McMahan, Michel, Mumford, Norwood, Parks, Pope, Rhodes, Seymour, Simmons (12th), Simmons (13th), Sparks, Suber, Tate, Taylor, Thomas, Thompson, Turner-Ford, Whaley, Wiggins, Williams, Younger Senate Bill 2898 (As Sent to Governor) AN ACT TO DIRECT THE TRANSFER OF $20 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE CAPITAL EXPENSE FUND TO THE DISASTER ASSISTANCE TRUST FUND; TO DIRECT THE TRANSFER OF $125 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE CAPITAL EXPENSE FUND TO THE 2026 LOCAL GOVERNMENTS DISASTER RECOVERY EMERGENCY LOAN FUND; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: SECTION 1. Upon the effective date of this act, the State Treasurer, in conjunction with the State Fiscal Officer, shall transfer the sum of Twenty Million Dollars ($20,000,000.00) from the Capital Expense Fund (Fund No. 6499C00000) to the Disaster Assistance Trust Fund (Fund No. 3372500000). SECTION 2. Upon the effective date of this act, the State Treasurer, in conjunction with the State Fiscal Officer, shall transfer the sum of One Hundred Twenty-five Million Dollars ($125,000,000.00) from the Capital Expense Fund (Fund No. 6499C00000) to the 2026 Local Governments Disaster Recovery Emergency Loan Fund created in Section 6 of HB 1646, 2026 Regular Session. SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
