Subsection (1)(h) of section 4 of chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:- Notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter or any other general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, a member in service of a retirement system as defined in section one who is a veteran shall be credited with all periods of service for which the veteran was previously employed in any governmental unit. Such service shall be creditable service for any period or periods of prior work in a governmental unit and shall be given full credit for retirement purposes. Such creditable service shall not be limited if the retirement system in which the veteran is currently a member in service differs from the governmental unit in which he or she previously became a member. Such creditable service shall not be limited by years of membership service.
