SECTION 1. This bill may be known as an Act to update the definition leaving the scene of an accident a/k/a Katie’s Law. SECTION 2. Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 968 through 970, the following words:- “or by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not less than one year nor more than two and one-half years and by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars nor more than five thousand dollars”. SECTION 3. Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking, in line 972, the words “one year” and inserting in place thereof the words “two and one-half years”. SECTION 4. Section 24 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking, in lines 975, the words “one year” and inserting in place thereof the words “two and one-half years”.
