Chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after 244 the following new section:- SECTION 245. Fentanyl testing (a) If a person is treated at a general acute care hospital and the hospital conducts a urine drug screening to assist in diagnosing the patient’s condition, the hospital shall include testing for fentanyl in the urine drug screening. (b) As used in this section, “urine drug screening” means a chemical analysis intended to test patients for the presence of multiple drugs, including cocaine, opioids, and phencyclidine. (c) The department of public health is hereby authorized and directed to promulgate or revise any regulations necessary to implement the testing requirements outlined above.
