Senate File 427 - Introduced SENATE FILE 427 BY COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT (SUCCESSOR TO SSB 1134) A BILL FOR An Act relating to requirements for licensure as a professional 1 land surveyor. 2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 3 TLSB 2514SV (2) 91 ss/ko S.F. 427 Section 1. Section 542B.14, subsection 1, paragraph b, Code 1 2025, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (5) Successfully passing an examination 3 specific to the laws of this state. 4 Sec. 2. Section 542B.14, Code 2025, is amended by adding the 5 following new subsection: 6 NEW SUBSECTION . 3. Notwithstanding section 272C.12, 7 subsection 3, paragraph “c” , the board shall not issue a 8 temporary license to practice as a professional land surveyor. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill relates to the licensure of professional land 13 surveyors. The bill requires an applicant for licensure as a 14 professional land surveyor to pass an examination specific to 15 the laws of this state.
