Section 1.18, Code 2025, is amended by adding the 1 following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 2A. The Oxford English dictionary is hereby 3 adopted as the official dictionary of the state of Iowa. 4 EXPLANATION 5 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 6 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 7 This bill adopts the Oxford English dictionary as the 8 official state dictionary. 9 The provisions of Code section 1.18 do not apply to, among 10 other things, commerce, public health and safety, education, 11 and communication by a member of the general assembly or an 12 officer of state government. 13 -1- LSB 2177XS (2) 91 sc/ns 1/ 1
