Section 321N.1, subsection 2, Code 2025, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 2. “Digital network” means an online-enabled application, 3 internet site, or system offered or utilized by a 4 transportation network company that enables transportation 5 network company riders to prearrange rides with transportation 6 network company drivers. A “digital network” is not a product 7 under the Code. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill provides that an online-enabled application, 12 internet site, or system offered or utilized by a 13 transportation network company that enables transportation 14 network company riders to prearrange rides with transportation 15 network company drivers is not a product under Iowa Code. 16 “Product” is not a defined term under Code section 4.1, but is 17 defined in various contexts in many Code chapters, often in 18 combination with other terms, depending on the subject matter. 19 -1- LSB 2788YH (1) 91 th/ns 1/ 1
