NEW SECTION . 11.15 Efficient use of public funds 1 —— reports. 2 The auditor of state shall annually update a list of 3 best practices for maximizing the efficient use of public 4 funds with innovative, practical, and common sense items 5 that do not require legislative action. The auditor of 6 state shall distribute these recommendations to all public 7 entities and request that the public entities report on which 8 recommendations are being followed. The auditor of state shall 9 prepare an annual report that includes and analyzes the reports 10 received from public entities. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill requires the auditor of state to annually update 15 a list of best practices for maximizing the efficient use of 16 public funds with innovative, practical, and common sense 17 items not requiring legislative action. Additionally, the 18 bill requires the auditor to distribute the recommendations to 19 public entities, request that the public entities report to the 20 auditor concerning the recommendations, and prepare an annual 21 report that includes and analyzes the reports received from 22 public entities. 23 -1- LSB 6173YH (1) 91 ss/ns 1/ 1
