MEYER A BILL FOR An Act relating to prior authorization requirements for the 1 treatment of cancer. 2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 3 TLSB 1830YH (3) 91 nls/ko H.F. 217 Section 1. Section 514F.8, Code 2025, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 3A. A utilization review organization or 3 a health carrier shall not require prior authorization for 4 health care services that are recommended by a covered person’s 5 health care provider based on the national comprehensive cancer 6 network protocols. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill relates to prior authorization requirements for 11 the treatment of cancer. Under the bill, a utilization review 12 organization or a health carrier shall not require prior 13 authorization for health care services that are recommended by 14 a covered person’s health care provider based on the national 15 comprehensive cancer network protocols. 16 -1- LSB 1830YH (3) 91 nls/ko 1/ 1
