2 An act relating to education in correctional
3 facilities for professional licensure; amending s.
4 944.801, F.S.; requiring the Correctional Education
5 Program to design and implement a plan, in
6 coordination with the boards of professions regulated
7 by the Department of Business and Professional
8 Regulation, or the department when there is no board,
9 for inmates who take certain classes to receive credit
10 towards licensure requirements; providing an effective
11 date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Paragraph (m) is added to subsection (3) of
16 section 944.801, Florida Statutes, to read:
17 944.801 Education for state prisoners.—
18 (3) The responsibilities of the Correctional Education
19 Program shall be to:
20 (m) Design and implement a plan, in coordination with the
21 relevant professional boards regulated by the Department of
22 Business and Professional Regulation, or the Department of
23 Business and Professional Regulation when there is no board, to
24 ensure that inmates in a correctional institution who take
25 classes that meet the necessary curriculum requirements as
26 determined by the applicable laws and rules for those
27 professions shall receive credit toward licensure requirements
28 for the successful completion of those classes.
