                                                HOUSE BILL NO. 87

    AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 16 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE SUICIDE PREVENTION
    COALITION.

    BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

1   Section 1. Amend § 6201, Title 16 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and

2 insertions as shown by underline as follows:

3   § 6201. The Delaware Suicide Prevention Coalition; mission, composition, organization, and reporting.

4   (c) The Coalition shall consist of the following members:

5   (1) One representative of the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, to be appointed by the

6   Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services;

7   (2) One representative of the Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services, to be appointed by the

8   Secretary of the Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families;

9   (3) One representative of the Division of Public Health, to be appointed by the Secretary of the Department of

10  Health and Social Services;

11  (4) One representative of the Department of Correction, to be appointed by the Commissioner of the

12  department;

13  (5) One representative of the Department of Education, to be appointed by the Secretary of the department;

14  (6) One representative of the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, to be appointed by the Chairman of

15  the Commission;

16  (7) One representative of the Delaware National Guard, to be appointed by the Adjutant General;

17  (8) One representative of the Mental Health Association of Delaware, to be appointed by the Executive

18  Director;

19  (9) One representative of a private psychiatric facility, appointed by the Governor;

20  (10) One representative to be appointed by the Governor. Governor;

21  (11) One representative who has experienced suicide ideation or survived a suicide attempt, appointed by the

22  Governor;

23  (12) One representative who has lost a loved one to suicide, appointed by the Governor.

                                                                        SYNOPSIS

              This Act adds 2 members, appointed by the Governor, to the Delaware Suicide Prevention Coalition. The 2 new
    members shall be: 1 member who has experienced suicide ideation or survived a suicide attempt, and 1 member who has
    lost a loved one to suicide.

              This change is requested by the Coalition.
