An act to add Section 10095.6 to the Insurance Code, relating to insurance.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

Existing law creates the Department of Insurance, headed by the Insurance Commissioner, and prescribes the department’s powers and duties. Existing law establishes the California FAIR Plan Association, a joint reinsurance association in which all insurers licensed to write basic property insurance participate to administer a program for the equitable apportionment of basic property insurance for persons who are unable to obtain that coverage through normal channels.
This bill would require the department to annually prepare a report that includes the change in number of FAIR Plan policies by ZIP Code for the prior calendar year. The bill would require the report to be submitted to the Legislature and publicly posted on the department’s internet website on or before July 1, 2027, and on or before each July 1 thereafter.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.
Section 10095.6 is added to the Insurance Code, to read:
10095.6.
The department shall annually prepare a report to the Legislature that includes the change in number of FAIR Plan policies by ZIP Code for the prior calendar year. On or before July 1, 2027, and on or before each July 1 thereafter, the report shall be submitted to the Legislature pursuant to Section 9795 of the Government Code and publicly posted to the department’s internet website.
