An act to add Section 15006.5 to the Government Code, relating to state government.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

Existing law establishes the Department of Justice under the direction and control of the Attorney General and requires the department to, among other things, maintain a continuing investigation on a statewide basis of investment frauds and business crimes.
This bill would require the Attorney General to investigate any payout of $5,000 or more received as a result of prediction market wagering if the event outcome was a matter of national security.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.
Section 15006.5 is added to the Government Code, to read:
15006.5.
The Attorney General shall investigate any payout of five thousand dollars ($5,000) or more received as a result of prediction market wagering if the event outcome was a matter of national security.
