10 TO CLARIFY THE DEFINITION OF "ATHLETE" WITHIN THE
11 ARKANSAS ATHLETIC TRAINERS ACT; AND FOR OTHER
12 PURPOSES.

18 "ATHLETE" WITHIN THE ARKANSAS ATHLETIC
19 TRAINERS ACT.

21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

23 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 17-93-402(1), concerning the definition of
24 "athlete" within the Arkansas Athletic Trainers Act, is amended to read as
25 follows:
26 (1) "Athlete" means an individual who is participating in
27 organized athletic or team activities at the interscholastic, intramural,
28 intercollegiate, or professional level, or sanctioned recreational sports
29 activities activities related to recreation, sport, exercise, or tactical
30 duty;

32 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code � 17-93-402(1), concerning the definition of
33 "direct supervision" within the Arkansas Athletic Trainers Act, is amended to
34 read as follows:
35 (6) "Direct supervision" means supervision of the athletic
36 trainer in a clinical setting by the supervising physical therapist or

1 physician who is readily available for consultation for the care of the
2 athlete and is on the premises;

4 SECTION 3. Arkansas Code � 17-93-402, concerning the definitions
5 within the Arkansas Athletic Trainers Act, is amended to add an additional
6 subdivision to read as follows:
7 (10) "Tactical duty" means activities associated with law
8 enforcement, military, or rescue services.
