9 AN ACT TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING THE DRIVER'S
10 INSTRUCTION MANUAL AND THE DRIVER'S LICENSE
11 EXAMINATION; TO REQUIRE THAT THE DRIVER'S INSTRUCTION
12 MANUAL AND THE DRIVER'S LICENSE EXAMINATION INCLUDE
13 INFORMATION ABOUT THE SAFE OPERATION OF A MOTOR
14 VEHICLE IN A HIGHWAY WORK ZONE; TO REQUIRE CERTAIN
15 INFORMATION TO BE INCLUDED IN THE DRIVER'S
16 INSTRUCTION MANUAL; TO REQUIRE CERTAIN QUESTIONS TO
17 BE INCLUDED ON THE DRIVER'S LICENSE EXAMINATION; AND
18 FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

28 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

30 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 27-16-706, concerning the topics on which
31 questions are required to be included in the written driver's license test,
32 is amended to add an additional subdivision to read as follows:
33 (6) The safe operation of a motor vehicle in a highway work
34 zone.

36 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code � 27-18-108(5), concerning the required

1 contents of the driver's instruction manual, is amended to read as follows:
2 (5) The Information about highway work zone safety, including
3 without limitation:
4 (A) The effects and hazards of unsafe driving through
5 highway work zones; and the
6 (B) The penalties for violations for driving unsafely
7 through highway work zones;
8 (C) Statistics concerning the dangers of a motor vehicle
9 operator committing a moving violation in a highway work zone;
10 (D) Testimonials from highway construction workers and
11 their families;
12 (E) Information on the importance of awareness and slowing
13 down in highway work zones; and
14 (F) A question-and-answer section concerning the safe
15 operation of a motor vehicle in a highway work zone.
