12 REPRESENTATION; TO AMEND THE TIME FRAME FOR APPEALS;

17 TO AMEND THE ARKANSAS STUDENT DUE
18 PROCESS AND PROTECTION ACT.

20 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

22 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 6-60-1404(c)(1)(B)(iv), concerning the
23 procedural protection of attorney representation under the Arkansas Student
24 Due Process and Protection Act, is amended to add an additional subdivision
25 to read as follows:
26 (c) An institution shall advise a student who
27 is the subject of an investigation or disciplinary proceeding under this
28 subchapter that he or she may seek representation by an attorney.

30 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code � 6-60-1404(c)(1)(F)(ii), concerning the time
31 frame for filing appeals under the Arkansas Student Due Process and
32 Protection Act, is amended to read as follows:
33 (ii) An appeal under subdivision (c)(1)(F)(i) of
34 this section shall be filed within twenty-five (25) seven (7) days after a
35 student or student organization receives final notice of an institution's
36 decision.
