19 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

22 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 10-3-502(a), concerning the membership of
23 the Joint Budget Committee, is amended to read as follows:
24 (a)(1)(A) The Joint Budget Committee shall consist of:
25 (i) The current cochairs of the Legislative Council;
26 (ii) The immediate past cochairs of the Legislative
27 Council;
28 (iii) The current cochairs of the Legislative Joint
29 Auditing Committee;
30 (iv) The immediate past cochairs of the Legislative
31 Joint Auditing Committee;
32 (v) The President Pro Tempore of the Senate;
33 (vi) The immediate past President Pro Tempore of the
34 Senate;

36 (vii) The Speaker of the House of Representatives;

1 (viii) The immediate past Speaker of the House of
2 Representatives;
3 (v)(ix) Twenty-four (24) members and eight (8)
4 alternate members of the House of Representatives; and
5 (vi)(x) Twenty-four (24) members of the Senate.
6 (B) If the immediate past House Cochair of the Legislative
7 Council is not a member of the House, the Speaker of the House of
8 Representatives may appoint a member of the House to serve in the stead of
9 the immediate past House cochair.
10 (C) If the immediate past Senate Cochair of the
11 Legislative Council is not a member of the Senate, the President Pro Tempore
12 of the Senate may appoint a member of the Senate to serve in the stead of the
13 immediate past Senate cochair.
14 (D) If the immediate past House Cochair of the Legislative
15 Joint Auditing Committee is not a member of the House, the Speaker of the
16 House of Representatives may appoint a member of the House to serve in the
17 stead of the immediate past House cochair.
18 (E) If the immediate past Senate Cochair of the
19 Legislative Joint Auditing Committee is not a member of the Senate, the
20 President Pro Tempore of the Senate may appoint a member of the Senate to
21 serve in the stead of the immediate past Senate cochair.
22 (F) If the immediate past President Pro Tempore of the
23 Senate is not a member of the Senate, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate
24 may appoint a member of the Senate to serve in the stead of the immediate
25 past President Pro Tempore of the Senate.
26 (G) If the immediate past Speaker of the House of
27 Representatives is not a member of the House of Representatives, the Speaker
28 of the House of Representatives may appoint a member of the House to serve in
29 the stead of the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives.
30 (F)(H) If the House Cochair of the Legislative Council has
31 not been elected, the Speaker of the House of Representatives may appoint a
32 member of the House to serve until the House members of the Legislative
33 Council elect a cochair of the Legislative Council.
34 (G)(I) If the House Cochair of the Legislative Joint
35 Auditing Committee has not been elected, the Speaker of the House of
36 Representatives may appoint a member of the House to serve until the House

1 members of the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee elect a cochair of the
2 Legislative Joint Auditing Committee.
3 (2) The Senate Vice Chair of the Joint Budget Committee shall be
4 selected in the same manner as the Senate Vice Chair of the Legislative Joint
5 Auditing Committee.
