10 PARTICIPATION IN INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES AT
11 PRIVATE SCHOOLS; TO REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT THAT A
12 HOMESCHOOLED STUDENT LIVE WITHIN A CERTAIN RADIUS OF
13 A PRIVATE SCHOOL FOR PURPOSES OF PARTICIPATING IN AN
14 EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

18 TO REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT THAT A
19 HOMESCHOOLED STUDENT LIVE WITHIN A
20 CERTAIN RADIUS OF A PRIVATE SCHOOL FOR
21 PURPOSES OF PARTICIPATING IN AN
22 EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY.

24 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

26 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 6-15-510(b), concerning a homeschooled
27 student's participation in an interscholastic activity at a private school,
28 is amended to read as follows:
29 (b) A private school may approve a homeschooled student to participate
30 in an interscholastic activity if:
31 (1) The the homeschooled student or his or her parent notifies
32 the administrative head of the private school in writing:
33 (A)(1) Of the homeschooled student's request to
34 participate in the interscholastic activity before the signup, tryout, or
35 participation deadlines established for students enrolled in the private
36 school; and

1 (B)(2) That the homeschooled student has demonstrated
2 academic eligibility by obtaining:
3 (i)(A) A minimum test score of the thirtieth
4 percentile on the Stanford Achievement Test Series, Tenth Edition, or another
5 nationally recognized norm-referenced test in the previous twelve (12)
6 months; or
7 (ii)(B) A minimum score on a test approved by the
8 State Board of Education; and
9 (2) The homeschooled student lives within a twenty-five-mile
10 radius of the private school.
