9   AN ACT TO ALLOW FOR THE CROSS DEPUTIZATION OF

10  MUNICIPAL, COUNTY, STATE, AND TRIBAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

11  ON FEDERALLY-RECOGNIZED TRIBAL LAND WITHIN THE STATE;

12  AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

16                       TO ALLOW FOR THE CROSS DEPUTIZATION OF

17                       MUNICIPAL, COUNTY, STATE, AND TRIBAL LAW

18                       ENFORCEMENT ON FEDERALLY-RECOGNIZED

19                       TRIBAL LAND WITHIN THE STATE.

21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

23  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code Title 12, Chapter 6, is amended to add an

24 additional subchapter to read as follows:

25                             Subchapter 9 -- Tribal Lands

26

27  12-16-901. Cross deputization.

28  (a) A municipality, a county, or the state may enter into an agreement

29 with a tribal nation having federally-recognized tribal land within the

30 borders of the state for the cross deputization of law enforcement agencies.

31  (b) An agreement under subsection (a) of this section may allow

32 municipal, county, state law and tribal law enforcement agencies to have

33 authority to enforce tribal, state, and local laws within the borders of the

34 state on federally-recognized tribal land and surrounding jurisdictions.
