10  NONPARTISAN ELECTIONS; TO ALLOW CERTAIN CANDIDATES

11  FOR NONPARTISAN ELECTIONS TO USE THE TITLE OF THE

12  NONPARTISAN JUDICIAL OFFICE ON THE BALLOT; AND FOR

13  OTHER PURPOSES.

17                       TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING CANDIDATES

18                       FOR NONPARTISAN ELECTIONS; AND TO ALLOW

19                       CERTAIN CANDIDATES FOR NONPARTISAN

20                       ELECTIONS TO USE THE TITLE OF THE

21                       NONPARTISAN JUDICIAL OFFICE ON THE

22                       BALLOT.

24 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

25

26  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 7-10-103(f)(B)(ii), concerning filing as a

27 candidate for nonpartisan elections, is amended to read as follows:

28                       (ii) A candidate may use as the prefix the title of

29 a nonpartisan judicial office in an election for a nonpartisan judicial

30 office only if:

31                                (a) The candidate is currently serving in a

32 judicial position to which the candidate has been elected in the last

33 election for the office; or

34                                (b) The candidate:

35                                (1) Is a candidate for the office of

36 circuit judge or district judge a nonpartisan judicial office;

1                                      (2) Is currently serving in the position

2 of circuit judge or district judge a nonpartisan judicial office as an

3 appointee; and

4                                      (3) Has been serving in that position

5 for at least twelve (12) months; or

6                               (c) The candidate has previously served in a

7 nonpartisan judicial office.
