9   AN ACT TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING THE LICENSURE OF

10  ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

13                         Subtitle

14                       TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING THE

15                       LICENSURE OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS.

17 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

18

19  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 17-55-101(b), concerning applications for

20 licensure as an electrical inspector, is amended to read as follows:

21  (b)(1) A person shall apply for licensure as an electrical inspector

22 on a form approved by the board within thirty (30) days of employment as an

23 electrical inspector.

24  (2) A person shall be eligible to apply for licensure as an

25 electrical inspector if he or she is a:

26                       (A) Master electrician;

27                       (B) Journeyman electrician;

28                       (C) International Code Council Electrical Inspector with

29 six (6) months of employment experience as a municipal building code

30 enforcement official;

31                       (D) Arkansas Fire Training Academy International Fire

32 Service Accreditation Congress Inspector 1 with two (2) years of employment

33 experience at a fire marshal's office or fire inspector's office;

34                       (E) Arkansas Fire Training Academy International Fire

35 Service Accreditation Congress Inspector 2 with one (1) year of employment

36 experience at a fire marshal's office or fire inspector's office;

1                    (F) Arkansas Fire Training Academy International Fire

2 Service Accreditation Congress Inspector 3 with six (6) months of employment

3 experience at a fire marshal's office or fire inspector's office; or

4                    (G) Certified Electrical Inspector with a Certified

5 Electrical Inspector certification from the National Fire Protection

6 Association.

7   (2)(3) Applications shall be made to the board and shall contain:

8                    (A) Proof of employment with the state or a political

9 subdivision of the state as an electrical inspector in the State of Arkansas;

10                   (B)(i) Verification of work experience as required by rule

11 of the board.

12                   (ii) Work experience shall include without

13 limitation demonstrated knowledge of:

14                   (a) The standard materials and methods used in

15 the installation of electric equipment;

16                   (b) Approved methods of construction to ensure

17 the safety of persons and property; and

18                   (c) The requirements of the statewide

19 standards for the construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical

20 facilities and the performance of electrical work under � 20-31-104; and

21                   (A) Proof of:

22                   (i) Licensure as an electrician required under

23 subdivisions (b)(2)(A) and (B) of this section; or

24                   (ii) Certification and experience required under

25 subdivisions (b)(2)(C)-(F) of this section; and

26                   (C)(B) Payment of a license fee as established by rule of

27 the board that shall not exceed fifty dollars ($50.00).

29  SECTION 2. Arkansas Code � 17-55-101, concerning applications for

30 licensure as an electrical inspector, is amended to add a new subsection to

31 read as follows:

32  (f) A person who holds an electrical inspector license pursuant to the

33 qualifications under subdivision (b)(2) of this section and who is hired as

34 an electrical inspector shall attend the Department of Labor and Licensing

35 two-day training for electrical inspectors.
