9            AN ACT TO AMEND THE ELECTION LAWS OF THE STATE OF

10           ARKANSAS; TO AMEND ARKANSAS LAW CONCERNING NOTICES

11           RELATED TO THE ELECTION PROCESS; AND FOR OTHER

12           PURPOSES.

17                       OF ARKANSAS; AND TO AMEND ARKANSAS LAW

18                       CONCERNING NOTICES RELATED TO THE

19                       ELECTION PROCESS.

21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

23  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 7-4-102(b)(2)(A), concerning the election

24 of members to a county board of election commissioners, is amended to read as

25 follows:

26           (2)(A) Upon receipt of the notice under subdivision (b)(1) of

27 this section, the county clerk shall send to notify each of the county

28 election commissioners, by registered mail, in writing within thirty (30)

29 days of selection as a county election commissioner, a notice of the

30 requirement to take and subscribe to the oath prescribed by the Arkansas

31 Constitution.

33  SECTION 2. Arkansas Code � 7-7-203(h)(2)(A), concerning general

34 election primary dates, is amended to read as follows:

35           (2)(A)(i) Each Except as provided in subdivision (h)(2)(A)(ii)

36 of this section, each county clerk shall at least one hundred (100) days

1 before the date of the general election notify by registered mail certified

2 mail, restricted delivery, the chairs and secretaries of the county

3 committees of the respective political parties that a certified list of all

4 nominated candidates for county, township, and municipal offices is due and

5 shall be filed with the county clerk in order that the candidates' names be

6 placed on the ballot for the general election.

7   (ii) Upon written agreement by the chairs of the

8 county committees of the respective political parties, the county clerk may

9 notify the chairs and secretaries of the county committees of the respective

10 political parties by email with a read receipt requested.
