9   AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE ARKANSAS MEDICAID PROGRAM TO

10  PROVIDE A CATEGORY FOR BENEFICIARIES WITH SICKLE CELL

11  DISEASE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

19 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

21  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code Title 20, Chapter 77, Subchapter 1, is

22 amended to add an additional section to read as follows:

23  20-77-154. Medicaid category for sickle cell disease.

24  (a) The Arkansas Medicaid Program shall create a new category of

25 coverage solely for providing treatment to beneficiaries who have a diagnosis

26 of sickle cell disease.

27  (b) The Department of Human Services shall apply for any federal

28 waiver, Medicaid state plan amendment, or other authorization necessary to

29 implement this section.
