14 A PERSON FILING AS A CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF
15 JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT OR JUDGE OF THE COURT OF
16 APPEALS WHO IS SERVING IN THAT POSITION AS AN
17 APPOINTEE TO USE THE TITLE OF THAT POSITION AS A
18 PREFIX WHEN FILING AS A CANDIDATE; AND FOR OTHER

28 PREFIX WHEN FILING AS A CANDIDATE.

30 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

32 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 7-10-103(f)(1)(B)(ii), concerning the
33 requirement for filing as a candidate, is amended to read as follows:
34 (ii) A candidate may use as the prefix the title of
35 a nonpartisan judicial office in an election for a nonpartisan judicial
36 office only if:

1 (a) The candidate is currently serving in a
2 judicial position to which the candidate has been elected in the last
3 election for the office; or
4 (b) The candidate:
5 (1) Is a candidate for the office of
6 Justice of the Supreme Court, Judge of the Court of Appeals, circuit judge,
7 or district judge;
8 (2) Is currently serving in the position
9 of Justice of the Supreme Court, Judge of the Court of Appeals, circuit
10 judge, or district judge as an appointee; and
11 (3) Has been serving in that position
12 for at least twelve (12) months.
