9   AN ACT TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING TUITION BENEFITS

10  FOR SOLDIERS AND AIRMEN OF THE ARKANSAS NATIONAL

11  GUARD; TO PROVIDE ELIGIBILITY FOR A TUITION BENEFIT

12  TO SOLDIERS AND AIRMEN ATTENDING CERTAIN PRIVATE TWO-

13  YEAR AND FOUR-YEAR COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES; AND FOR

14  OTHER PURPOSES.

18                       TO PROVIDE ELIGIBILITY FOR A TUITION

19                       BENEFIT TO SOLDIERS AND AIRMEN OF THE

20                       ARKANSAS NATIONAL GUARD ATTENDING

21                       CERTAIN PRIVATE TWO-YEAR AND FOUR-YEAR

22                       COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.

24 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

26  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 6-60-214 is amended to add additional

27 subsections to read as follows:

28  (j) A soldier or airman of the Arkansas National Guard attending a

29 private institution of higher education may receive a tuition benefit under

30 this section up to an amount equal to the amount that the soldier or airman

31 of the Arkansas National Guard would have received under this section if he

32 or she were attending a state-supported college or university.

33  (k) As used in this section, "private institution of higher education"

34 means a private, nonprofit two-year or four-year college or university with

35 its primary headquarters located in Arkansas that is eligible to receive

36 Title IV federal student aid funds.
