23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

25 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 6-16-1901(a), concerning the requirement
26 that students complete documented community service, is amended to read as
27 follows:
28 (a)(1) Beginning with the graduating class of 2026-2027, a public high
29 school student shall complete a minimum of seventy-five (75) clock hours of
30 documented community service in grades nine through twelve (9-12), as
31 certified by the service agency or organization with which the public school
32 student volunteers, in order to graduate.
33 (2)(A) The community service hours required under subdivision
34 (a)(1) of this section may be documented and maintained by the parent, legal
35 guardian, or person standing in loco parentis to the student.
36 (B) The documentation of community service hours under

1 subdivision (a)(2)(A) of this section:
2 (i) Shall include an attestation by the parent,
3 legal guardian, or person standing in loco parentis to the student that the
4 student obtained the community service hours that are documented; and
5 (ii) May be audited by the Department of Education
6 to ensure:
7 (a) The community service hours are being
8 properly documented and maintained; and
9 (b) The accuracy of the community service
10 hours that are being documented.
