8                              For An Act To Be Entitled

9               AN ACT TO AMEND THE SCHOOL PERFORMANCE REPORT ACT; TO

10              AMEND THE MEASURES CONSIDERED WHEN CALCULATING A

11              SCHOOL RATING; TO ENSURE A STUDENT IS NOT COUNTED AS

12              A DROPOUT FOR PURPOSES OF CALCULATING A SCHOOL-LEVEL

13              GRADUATION RATE IF THE STUDENT PASSES A GED TEST; AND

14              FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

18                       TO AMEND THE MEASURES CONSIDERED WHEN

19                       CALCULATING A SCHOOL RATING; AND TO

20                       ENSURE A STUDENT IS NOT COUNTED AS A

21                       DROPOUT FOR PURPOSES OF CALCULATING A

22                       SCHOOL-LEVEL GRADUATION RATE IF THE

23                       STUDENT PASSES A GED TEST.

25 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

27  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 6-15-2108(a), concerning the measures

28 assessed when determining a school's rating, is amended to read as follows:

29  (a) The school rating system shall be a multiple-measures approach

30 that shall include without limitation:

31              (1) Academic achievement on the annual statewide student

32 assessment;

33              (2) Student growth on the annual statewide student assessment;

34              (3)(A) School-level graduation rate or rates.

35                       (B) However, a student shall not be counted as a dropout

36 for purposes of calculating a school-level five-year graduation rate under

1 this section if the student passes a GED test during the year in which the

2 student dropped out; and

3   (4) English-learner progress or growth in acquiring English.
