9   AN ACT TO PERMIT A RETIRING PROSECUTING ATTORNEY TO

10  BE AWARDED HIS OR HER SERVICE FIREARM UPON

11  RETIREMENT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

19 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

21  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 16-21-147(b), concerning the powers of a

22 prosecuting attorney and a deputy prosecuting attorney, is amended to add an

23 additional subdivision to read as follows:

24  (5) When a prosecuting attorney or a deputy prosecuting attorney

25 whom a prosecuting attorney has authorized to carry a firearm retires from

26 service as a prosecuting attorney or deputy prosecuting attorney, in

27 recognition of and appreciation for his or her service to the state may be

28 awarded any firearm carried during his or her tenure as prosecuting attorney

29 or deputy prosecuting attorney.
