9 AN ACT CONCERNING ELIGIBILITY FOR ENROLLMENT IN A
10 HOME SCHOOL; TO REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT THAT A PUBLIC
11 SCHOOL STUDENT RETURN TEMPORARILY ISSUED ITEMS,
12 RESOURCES, MATERIALS, AND PROPERTY BELONGING TO A
13 PUBLIC SCHOOL IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL IN A
14 HOME SCHOOL; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

18 TO REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT THAT A PUBLIC
19 SCHOOL STUDENT RETURN TEMPORARILY ISSUED
20 ITEMS, RESOURCES, MATERIALS, AND
21 PROPERTY BELONGING TO A PUBLIC SCHOOL IN
22 ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL IN A HOME
23 SCHOOL.

25 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

27 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 6-15-503(f), concerning the requirement to
28 return certain items to a public school in order to be eligible to enroll in
29 a home school, is repealed.
30 (f)(1) A student who is enrolled in a public school and who has been
31 temporarily issued items, resources, supplies, materials, or other property
32 belonging to the public school at which he or she is enrolled is eligible for
33 enrollment in a home school after:
34 (A) The items, resources, supplies, materials, or other
35 property belonging to the public school district at which the student is
36 enrolled have been returned to the public school;

1 (B) The items, resources, supplies, materials, or other
2 property belonging to the public school district at which the student is
3 enrolled have been paid for; or
4 (C) The semester has ended.
5 (2) However, the public school district superintendent or the
6 local school district board of directors may waive the required five-school-
7 day waiting period required under subdivision (a)(1)(B) of this section if
8 the public school district superintendent or the local school district board
9 of directors is satisfied with the return of temporarily issued items,
10 resources, supplies, materials, or other property belonging to a public
11 school student.
