16 GLUCOSE MONITOR IN THE ARKANSAS MEDICAID

19 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

21 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 20-77-148(c), concerning the coverage of a
22 continuous glucose monitor within the Arkansas Medicaid Program, is amended
23 to read as follows:
24 (c) Coverage for a continuous glucose monitor under the Arkansas
25 Medicaid Program shall allow the beneficiary to obtain a continuous glucose
26 monitor through:
27 (1) A a prescription at a pharmacy and be eligible for rebates
28 as a pharmacy benefit; or
29 (2)(A) A written order from a ordering practitioner for durable
30 medical equipment provided by a durable medical equipment provider and be
31 eligible as a durable medical equipment benefit.
32 (B) A durable medical provider shall not be required to
33 submit a National Drug Code as part of any claim submission under this
34 section.

1 continuous glucose monitors within the Arkansas Medicaid Program, is amended
2 to add an additional subsection to read as follows:
3 (d) Regardless of whether the coverage for a continuous glucose
4 monitor is provided through a pharmacy or a durable medical equipment
5 provider, the Department of Human Services shall:
6 (1) Implement consistent approval requirements; and
7 (2) Reimburse for a continuous glucose monitor provided by a
8 durable medical equipment provider at no less than the Medicare reimbursement
9 under the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System.
