8                                For An Act To Be Entitled

9             AN ACT TO ENSURE THAT INDIVIDUALS WITH GESTATIONAL

10            DIABETES ARE PROVIDED COVERAGE FOR CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE

11            MONITORS UNDER THE ARKANSAS MEDICAID PROGRAM; AND FOR

12            OTHER PURPOSES.

15                               Subtitle

16                       TO ENSURE THAT INDIVIDUALS WITH

17                       GESTATIONAL DIABETES ARE PROVIDED

18                       COVERAGE FOR CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORS

19                       UNDER THE ARKANSAS MEDICAID PROGRAM.

21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

23  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code � 20-77-148(b), concerning coverage for

24 continuous glucose monitors under the Arkansas Medicaid Program, is amended

25 to read as follows:

26  (b) The Arkansas Medicaid Program shall provide coverage for a

27 continuous glucose monitor for the treatment of an individual if the

28 individual has:

29            (1) Either:

30                       (A) A presence of type 1 diabetes or any other type of

31 diabetes with:

32                               (i) The use of insulin more than two (2) times

33 daily; or

34                               (ii) Evidence of Level 2 or Level 3 hypoglycemia; or

35                       (B) Diagnosis of glycogen storage disease type 1a; or

36                       (C) Diagnosis of gestational diabetes; and

1   (2) Regular follow-up visits with a healthcare provider at a

2 minimum of every six (6) months to assess for ongoing benefit of the

3 continuous glucose monitor.
