9            AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE ARKANSAS MEDICAID PROGRAM TO

10           MAKE PRESUMPTIVE ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATIONS FOR

11           PREGNANT WOMEN; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

16                       PROGRAM TO MAKE PRESUMPTIVE ELIGIBILITY

17                       DETERMINATIONS FOR PREGNANT WOMEN.

19 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

21  SECTION 1. Arkansas Code Title 20, Chapter 77, Subchapter 1, is

22 amended to add an additional section to read as follows:

23  20-77-154. Presumptive eligibility for pregnant women.

24  (a) The Arkansas Medicaid Program shall make presumptive eligibility

25 determinations for pregnant women who are applying for the program to improve

26 access to prenatal care and allow prenatal care to be delivered immediately

27 while waiting for a full application to be processed.

28  (b) The program may designate one (1) or more qualified entities to

29 screen for eligibility and immediately enroll pregnant women into the

30 program.
